Beginning the Conversation: Criminal Justice and Autism Spectrum Disorder

This webinar will provide an overview of the intersection between autism and the Juvenile and Criminal Justice System., how characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are sometimes implicated in people engaging in behaviors that reach the level of criminal offense and the vulnerabilities of people on the spectrum once inside the system. The webinar will finish with resources and strategies to prevent contact with the legal system.

Laurie Sperry, Ph.D., BCBA-D, MSc Forensic Psychology/Criminology 
Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral

Dr. Sperry has been in the field of ASD for over 30 years. In the past 10 years she went back to school to pursue a forensic psychology /criminology degree to work on behalf of people with ASD to ensure their just and humane treatment within the criminal justice system. She is part of the Autism Forensics team at Yale University.
